Psycho-Educational Assessment
A psycho-educational assessment is a comprehensive evaluation that looks at an individual's cognitive, academic, and emotional functioning. It helps to identify learning strengths and challenges, attention or memory issues, emotional and behavioural concerns, and other factors that may be impacting performance at school, work or home. These assessments are often used to explore concerns related to ADHD, learning disabilities, giftedness, anxiety, or difficulties with executive functioning. The goal is to gain a clear understanding of how your child learns and to provide practical recommendations to support their success.
What Does The Process Involve?
The full assessment process typically includes:
- A virtual intake meeting with parent(s) where we will discuss your concerns, gather background information, and outline what to expect.
- Connect and gather information from your child's teacher including interview, observations and rating scales
- 2 to 3 in-person sessions with your child, where we will complete the assessment activities using a variety of standardized tools.
- Additional information gathered (based on the referral concerns) like rating scales, file review, interviews etc. from parents, teachers and school staff.
- A feedback meeting, where we will go over the final report together and review the results in detail.
- The final report is a comprehensive document that includes test results, observations, diagnoses (if applicable), and personalized recommendations. These strategies are tailored to support your child at home and in school, and can be shared with teachers or other professionals involved.
Billing and Insurance
We offer direct billing to most insurance providers for added convenience and to reduce out-of-pocket costs for families.
Direct billing is available for most insurance providers. Receipts can be issued under the child’s name and/or each parent’s name, as appropriate.
In most situations, families are able to receive full coverage or a significant portion of the assessment cost covered by submitting the split receipts to their insurance providers
